Set on the lip of a valley that stretches out below you in the old farming village of Donji Dolac and surrounded by mountains - an ancient settlement whose people have cared for the land here for many centuries - you will find everything you need for a peaceful, restful, pleasant stay. Whether you are looking to spend time as a family in a place that young children will love, or perhaps a couple looking for a place to slow down and recharge, this house in the heart of the beautiful and historic region of Poljica offers you all you may require. The house can sleep (…) people comfortably in (…) rooms. The rooms are air-conditioned (…?). There is Internet connection. The living and dining areas are luxurious and comfortable and the floors are laid out in cool tiled stone. Your home for as long as you decide to stay is situated in a small estate of its own grounds. Here you will find apple, plum and olive trees and vegetable plantations, flowers, beautiful shrubs and more. (You might see a butterfly or two dancing their way around the flowers on the lawns and balconies!) To the side of the house overlooking the valley of Mosor is a swimming pool built from local Dolac stone. Let the heat of the sun feed up into your feet from this beautifully crafted element as you lounge or walk around the pool, or let yourself slip into its cool blue waters and wonder quietly as you look around and swim or float in its gentle hydro-jets why sometime visitors to this place sometimes say ‘Raj na zemli’ - Heaven on Earth! There is a place to barbecue and a covered portico in which to sit and enjoy your meals

The deep green waters of the river Cetina are a short drive from the house and offer a rich variety of pursuits and opportunities to relax. It is famous for river rafting, kayaking, rock climbing and other outdoor activities, if you are feeling adventurous (book online), or why not visit its plentiful tranquil beaches and restaurants for quieter times where you can paddle or swim, or just relax in beautiful surroundings. For foodies there is a wonderful farmers’ market at Zadvarje (around a twenty minute drive from the house). Here you will find lots of organic local produce of the highest quality and some interesting people! Try the traditional Poljican speciality of soparnik or zeljenik (locals will debate with you on what it should be called!) - a savoury pie filled with chard and onions and cooked in embers (listed as non-material national heritage of Croatia by the European Commission in 2016!). Whichever name you choose, it is delicious and has been cooked here since the 15th century. The local towns of Trilj and Sinj offer places to shop for groceries and more. Sinj is a place of significant importance to the region - pilgrims flock there every year to visit the church of Gospa Sinjska (Our Lady of Sinj). There is a beautiful monastery here and a museum, and plenty of charming bars and cafes within its meandering streets and alleyways to eat and drink and watch the world go by. Every August in Sinj you can witness the Sinjska alka tournament, where ‘tilters’ come to commemorate the victory over the Ottoman army in 1715. Riders in traditional costume gallop at full speed trying to displace a small ring (the alka) hanging from a wire with a lance. The President and Prime Minister of Croatia attend. Poljica itself has a rich culture and history going back over five hundred years (its first statute was written in 1440).
