The house is close to Senggigi in the village of Kerandangan, in a beautiful valley, 15 mins walk from the beach and a short drive to other good beaches and restaurants. A 25m swimming pool is shared with 10 other houses and it's usually pretty quiet both at the pool and the house. There is a good sized garden around the house and a covered area to relax and eat in, in the corner of the garden. Good reliable car rental can be organised and a driver if required.

I am a native of Lombok and married to an Englishwoman. I work part time mainly entertaining residents of care homes with singing old songs and my guitar playing. I am also a badminton coach. I live in Devon, England but am in very regular contact with Lombok and in particular the manager of Secret Garden, Sapi'i, and our 'maid/pembantu', Nur, to make sure our house and the complex are well looked after. I can quickly sort out any problems you may have whilst staying at the house and am always available via Messenger etc. I visit Lombok for several weeks a year and have lots of friends and family there - there is always someone I can contact to help you in any hour or need, apart from the staff at Secret Garden, who are very helpful anyway. After 17 years of marriage to an Englishwoman I have become quite European myself and hopefully I know the standards that foreign guests expect of an Airbnb host! By text or Airbnb messages and my response time is usually very quick. I am generally in the UK so if I’m asleep you can also message or phone the villa manager, Sapi’i, during your stay who is very responsive.

The Secret Garden villas are in the village of Kerandangan, set in a beautiful valley, a short drive from Senggigi. Whilst there are some other holiday homes in the village, it is a proper Indonesian village and not an ex-pat enclave. If you wander around, people will greet you and you will see the real everyday life in a rural village. You can buy vegetables in the morning. You could also ask our housekeeper to do this for you. There are some small shops where you can buy some basics but generally we recommend shopping for food in Senggigi. To get around the area or around Lombok, you can rent motorbike (moped), car or you can rent the driver with car. If you don’t want to do that there are 24 hours blue bird taxis.
