Come and explore the Wild Atlantic Way from Annie's River Retreat Cottage, a pet friendly 2 bed (sleeps four) cottage near Lettermacaward village, with its own access to the Gweebarra River & mountain views and a ten minute drive away from Dooey Beach . The cottage, with all amenities, is situated in the heart of the Gaeltacht in West Donegal. It is the perfect place to relax and be entranced with this special, unspoiled area of Ireland, particularly relaxing in the cottage’s large living area, with the turf wood burner stove, looking out our ‘picture window’ towards the patio, fields and river valley. Parking is free by the cottage. Towels and bed linen are provided.

The holiday home is perfectly placed for long country/forest walks and scenic coastal and mountainous drives, as well as experiencing the mile long sandy green flag rated Dooey Beach (a ten minutes drive away and perfect for walking, surfing and other water sports), fishing in the famous Gweebarra Estuary and River, golfing at the Nairn & Portnoo Golf Club and spending time meeting hospitable locals at their weekly traditional music sessions at nearby Elliot's pub.
The cottage is situated in the Irish speaking area of Co Donegal (the Gaeltacht) and is well located to explore the Wild Atlantic Way and many of Co Donegal's attractions, such as Mount Errigal, Glenveagh National Park and Castle, Kilclooney Dolmen (portal tomb about a ten minute drive away), Donegal Town/Castle and Bay (with its Waterbus) and Craft Village, Slieve League (highest accessible sea cliffs in Europe) and associated boat trips, Grianan of Aileach (ancient ring fort). All guests also receive a 'places of interest' information pack .
Nearby is the village of Lettermacaward (0.9 miles/1.4 km from the cottage) for groceries, petrol, post office, church, local pubs (1.5 miles/2.4km from the cottage), one of which has traditional Irish music sessions on Friday nights. The local breath-taking 3km ( 1.8 miles) long sandy (green flag) Dooey beach is a ten minute drive away (perfect for walking, dog walking and surfing). The market town of Dungloe (‘Gateway to the Rosses’), is 15 mins away with shops, supermarkets,pubs, cafes/restaurants etc.
