Barnesmore Cottage is nestled at the base of the Bluestack Mountains, surrounded by 21 acres of mature gardens and woodlands in an absolutely picturesque location, it is a very secluded site with one other house on the property (owners). It is also located next to the old railway line, which makes a lovely walking trail, although we hope to get the train back on that track someday. It’s conveniently located between two popular towns Donegal Town and Ballybofey. This traditional cottage dates back to the mid-ninteenth century but been renovated and extended equipped with all the little extras and modern conveniences that make your stay very special. Beech pine adorns the walls creating a cozy, cabin feel perfect for evenings next to one of the two open fires. Two of the rooms are located upstairs, and there are various level changes on the main floor, for these reasons it is unfortunately not suitable for persons in a wheelchair. Across the river (or down the lane) is the award winning famous traditional Irish gastropub, Biddy's O'Barnes which has won "Best Traditional Gastropub in Ireland" at the Yes Chef Awards and has a great open fire whether you are a local resident or a passing traveller you will experience the warm embrace of their hospitable staff. The cottage is located across from our traditional Irish pub (one of the most famous in the Northwest), there is a lovely waterfall just a short walk on the property and all the peace and tranquility you could ask for! Just 10 minutes into Donegal Town there are some amazing restaurants, museums, Donegal Bay Waterbus, shops and bars. Ballybofey just 15 minutes (in the opposite directions) also boosts a great department stores. shops and pubs.
