“The hosts were amazing, and always available if we needed anything. Power went for a few hours in the storm and they were straight over with a flask of hot water for tea. Homemade bread that was there on arrival was delicious.”
Bluebell Cottage is a wonderful old typical Irish Thatched Cottage built in the traditional Wexford style built circa 1800.
Lovingly renovated with underfloor heating and modern shower/wc and kitchen - guests can still experience the ambiance that only a Thatched Cottage like this can give.
The cottage is suitable for up to 4 adults.
Bluebell Cottage is not suitable for Parties or late noise as we have neighbours.
Upstairs.
In a cottage of this age and style the main bedroom with its King size bed is accessed through a mezzanine room with a double bed.
Parents please note that there is a stairs and a few steps in the cottage. Being a village house - the front door opens directly on to the street. The Shower/Toilet is downstairs.
Being a traditional Irish Cottage - there are a few “Mind your Head” spots!
We have parking beside the cottage leading to a Barbecue/seating area for guests.
We supply bed linen/ towels/toilet paper for guests. Please bring Beach Towels.
We have a hairdryer for guest use also.
We deep clean between guests.
Hello to all my Guests.
I absolutely love being a host!
I had a holiday let in Tipperary for several years before moving to Kilmore Quay where I dreamed of having a Holiday Home by the Sea combined with a Holiday Guest Cottage. I cant believe that dream came true.
I love to meet and greet everyone who stays with us and I am on hand to help but I dont get in the way.
I believe in giving my guests a relaxing holiday retreat and Kilmore Quay is the ideal place for that.
I walk our harbour every day Winter and Summer and I will be on the beach most days too especially in Summer - living the life I want my guests to have while they stay at Bluebell Cottage!
Kilmore Quay is a working fishing Harbour. It is unspoiled and relaxed and thats what makes it so charming. A short stroll from Bluebell Cottagel will bring you to the Kilmore Quay Harbour where you can watch the fishing boats come and go. The wonderful Saltee Islands are in view and there are trips available during the summer season by Declan Bates and Family. Be sure to book in advance if you can. You can book online and lots of info there too. Right beside the harbour is the Little Beach which is great for families. You can stroll over to the ice-cream shop, cafe or the Saltee chipper and eat on the beach. You are only yards from the Quayside Deli and Cocoas Cafe ,the Wooden House Pub and Kehoes Pub and restaurant. Bluebell Cottage is only a few door away from Kehoes Pub. The Saltees Hotel is a short walk in the other direction where they have a wine bar.
You never have to cook :]
Walking further along the seafront is the the Viewing Point where you can see the sweep of the Protected Burrow Beach and Dunes and the entire bay all the way down to the Hook Head Lighthouse on one side and Carnsore Point on the other.
There are lots of nearby places to visit.
