Our 5-bedroom cottage is a traditional Burren farm house built over 150 years ago beside the family farm. It has been extensively renovated to make it modern and comfortable in the inside while retaining the charm of the traditional cottage on the outside. Many of the rooms have traditional features such as beautiful hard cut stone fireplaces in both the dining room and living room. the furnishing in this property retains the rustic feel of the traditional burren farmhouse and your stay here gives an insight into life in a farmhouse of long ago. The main entrance has a half door which would have been common in this area when it was built. While there is a separate dining room there are also dining room tables and chairs in the kitchen.
We built the 4-bedroom cottages almost 20 years ago in response to demand for the traditional cottage. These are built in a traditional style with double height ceilings in the living and kitchen areas to give a sense of space internally. These cottages enjoy a secluded area, just off the main coast road on an elevated site with great views of the Atlantic Ocean and the Aran Islands. There is ample parking and lots of space around each cottage for privacy. To the rear there is outside seating where you can relax and watch the most amazing sunsets over Galway Bay,
John and I have one son Eoghan and we live in Fanore, North Clare and have 4 holiday cottages. We are farmers and have a suckler herd, rearing our cattle for beef. The beef that is produced in the Burren is among the best in the world as the cattle are never indoors, spending the winter in the mountain. We live and farm close by the cottages and visitors are welcome to walk our land and explore the amazing landscape of the Burren national park. We also have a herd of alpacas and our guests are also welcome to interact with these beautiful fluffy animals.
Fanore is a small coastal village in North Clare, on the Wild Atlantic Way overlooking Galway Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.
