Nestled between the rolling hills and only minutes from the coastline in the heart of West Cork is our delightful Gate Lodge. Once the residence of the gatekeeper to Muckruss House which is now our home and family farm. The newly built lodge sits at the entrance to Muckruss House on the original site which dates back to the 16th Century. It is still very much part of local history which is why we have retained its historic charm while at same time creating an air of modern sophistication. This property is a self catering holiday home. Breakfast supplies made up of fresh local produce will be delivered ahead of your arrival which you can cook and enjoy at your leisure. You will be in the heart of the countryside but only minutes from some beautiful beaches and woodland walks, you will find detailed information at the lodge and I am always available to answer any queries or questions you may have during your stay. Our Lodge is private ,quiet and peaceful. A natural stream runs through the garden making it extremely tranquil and relaxing should you prefer to enjoy a day at home. We have a fuel burning stove in the open plan living space for chillier days and provide you with fuel

Your only neighbours at the Gate Lodge will be our herd of Dairy cows who graze the nearby paddocks, and can be found peeping over the ditch from time to time, otherwise barring the occasional tractor going about its daily business the neighbourhood is very quiet and peaceful. What is special about our location though is having the best of both worlds: less than a minutes walk and you will be surrounded by sea air and stunning views . We are only minutes by car from the magnificent Inchydoney, approximately 3-5km , while on this side of the water we have Dunmore,1-5km , Duneen Strand ideal for swimming is only 2klm, Red Strand, Long Strand and many more are further along the coast. .Our local Hotel is award winning Dunmore House which is less than one km away, and a favorite for weddings and fine dining. We are only 4km for the vibrant town of Clonakilty which has so much to offer , in fact you will not want to leave. A car would be essential to get around, however if you love walking or running or cycling ( have your own bicycle) the nearby beaches are very accessible as is Dunmore House Hotel and I have listed some Taxi numbers in my information brochure should you need one.
