Hi, and welcome to our self-catering holiday home page! We have tried to ensure you have everything you need for a self-catering stay in Lough Rynn, whether you are on a family or group holiday, or you are a guest at a wedding in nearby Lough Rynn Castle. Our house is one of the most spacious, and also the nearest to the hotel (handy coming back from a wedding with sore feet!). Roisin is available to you locally for any problems you have and is always happy to answer questions. Enjoy your stay!
We live in Wicklow but love to travel to Leitrim ourselves regularly. We have nothing but great memories of being there since our daughter was a baby. She is now 14 and we usually have to bring a pal or two with us these days, but we still love to get away to Lough Rynn and enjoy the beautiful walks, the silence and tranquility, dropping up to the Hotel for a pre-dinner drink, or popping in on our way home for a nightcap!
Every visit must includes a trip to the brilliant Lough Key Forest Park. Bring a picnic and just enjoy the park - the walks, the lake, the super cafe. Then of course there is Zipit Forest Adventure for the teens (and the adults)! Zipit are re-opening on 29th June, booking is available online via their website. The park are currently working hard to get ready for a full re-opening so please check their website for latest updates.
You can't beat this part of Ireland for a stunning 'staycation' or trip along the North West of our stunning Wild Atlantic Way. For the golfers there are many superb courses within an hours' drive - Sligo County, Enniscrone, Carrick-on-Shannon and even Ballyliffen is doable on a day trip. Then you've got the Hotel for stunning bar food and pints afterwards - and a 2 minute walk home.
We enjoy a family dinner out in Coxes Steakhouse in Dromod (now doing take out), or a top notch gastropub meal in The Oarsman in Carrick-on-Shannon (also now doing take out), followed by a nightcap in the Hotel.
There are so many amenities on the doorstep and within easy driving distance, all set in spectacular Rural Irish countryside. We love our day trips to Sligo visiting family, Roscommon and Athlone.
Arigna Mines is not to be missed as a wonderful experience of life as a coal miner in Rural Ireland, including a trip into the mine itself. Currently they hope to re-open in mid-July.
I hope you come away loving Leitrim as much as we do.
