We are situated 3km from the beautiful heritage village of Ramelton. It is the birthplace of Nobel prize winner William Campbell and founding Captain of the All Blacks, Dave Gallagher. The Mall straddles the salmon rich river Lennon where it flows into Lough Swilly. There is a variety of bars and eateries in the village with frequent live music events in the delightful thatched pub at the end of our road. This quaint village is a perfect base to explore the beautiful woods, wild empty beaches and mountains of Donegal...the jewel in the crown of The Wild Atlantic Way. A short drive takes you to Fanad Peninsula and the world renowned Ballymastocker Bay. Close by, you can take a guided tour of the recently refurbished Fanad Lighthouse. At 25 minutes driving distance lie two of our national treasures. Firstly the breathtaking Glenveagh National Park to the west, with 17,000ha of spectacular post-glacial wilderness, home to red deer and golden eagles. Secondly, to the North, the expansive beaches and woodlands of Ards Friary and Forest Park. We are also just a 35 minute drive from the ancient ring fortress of Grianan of Aileach, constructed by the Uí Neill over 1500 years ago atop a remote hill. Standing on its 5m thick walls gives spectacular views to Lough Swilly and the Derryveagh mountains. Don't forget to call at our wonderful Gallery and Craft Boutique in the village, Ross Fine Art. Established 15 years ago this is a treasure trove with work by some of the finest painters, sculptors and jewellers.
