We are Margrét and Steini, both born and raised here in Garður, and today we live nearby with our two young children. Garður is a small, quiet, and safe town by the sea, and we feel lucky to be raising our family in such a peaceful place. In 2020, we began our journey with Garður Apartments. For us, this was never just about running a business—it was about creating independence for our family, building something of our own, and sharing the warmth of our hometown with travelers. We renovated and improved the property ourselves, and every detail reflects the care and effort we’ve put into it. Because we are parents, we know what families often need when traveling. We’ve made sure to include thoughtful touches such as travel cots, high chairs, and even a small playground built for our children but open to little guests as well. At the same time, we want all of our guests—whether families, couples, or solo travelers—to feel comfortable, relaxed, and well taken care of. We may not always meet our guests in person, but we live nearby and are always happy to help with anything you need. Whether it’s quick responses, local recommendations, or simply knowing someone is available if needed, we want your stay to feel easy and stress-free. Just 100 meters from the Atlantic Ocean, you can take scenic walks, watch breathtaking sunsets, and visit the nearby Garðskagaviti Lighthouse for peaceful views. The quiet and safe surroundings make it an ideal place to relax before or after your Icelandic adventures. As parents ourselves, we know how important comfort is for families traveling together. We provide travel cots and high chairs on request, and there is a small playground with a swing and slide that our own children enjoy and which is available to our little guests as well. With nature all around, children have plenty of space to explore in a safe environment. Practicality is also at the heart of what we offer. The apartments are only 10–15 minutes from Keflavík International Airport, making them perfect for stopovers, and guests benefit from free private parking.
