Ásamýri is an ideal base for sightseeing around South Iceland’s key natural attractions. The Golden Circle is a classic tour that covers the upper regions of South Iceland and stops by Gullfoss waterfall and the Geysir hot springs. Þingvellir National Park is about a 30-minute drive from Ásamýri.
The location has good conditions for viewing the northern lights on clear winter evenings. Guests are welcome to visit the animals on the farm. There are horses in the paddocks nearby, and guests are welcome to come and pat them. Ásamýri is close to the geothermal swimming pool and gym facilities in Selfoss (5 km / 3 mi). There’s also a nine-hole golf course near Selfoss. Horse riding tours on offer in various places nearby. Regional museum in Stokkseyri (14 km / 9 mi). Flói Bird Reserve (12 km / 7.5 mi). Horse shows in Fákasel (13 km / 8 mi). Hot spring area in Hveragerði (16 km / 10 mi). Arctic rafting in Hvítá glacier river (57 km / 35 mi).
Selfoss (4 km / 2.5 mi) is the most populous town in South Iceland and has a variety of shops and services. In Selfoss, we recommend that you visit the geothermal pool and experience the unique atmosphere at Tryggvaskáli Restaurant.
