Now retired, the host has a life long experience on the mountains, and ski mountaineering in particular. He moved his first steps on these mountains, the beauty of which remains forever in his hearth.

This property was built about one century ago with the typical stone and brick construction technique that can be seen in some other buildings in the area. It was, and still is, the only civil building near the Certosa, a religious building dating 1173 a.D. After being used as an hotel in the early 1900, its interiors have been rebuilt in a small number of two rooms flats. With time, the flats have been refurbished with heating and more modern plumbing and electricity, to make them comfortable as per modern standards. This flat was bought in 1970 by ing. Mensa, who loved the place and saw its great value. It was used since then by himself and his family, and after he died by his sons and daughters, and the many nephews. Today it is mostly dedicated to short term renting, sharing this little gem with the occasional traveller.

The apartment is a good starting point for many excursions on the mountains. With literally tens of excursions, from family walks to the pis du Pesio (the sources of the Pesio river) to alpinistic excursions to Marguareis (2651m, the highest in the Ligurian alps), you will find what fits your taste and experience. In wintertime, you can wear snowshoes and discover a fully new panorama, or take your skis and climb testa del Duca, rifugio Garelli, capanna Morgantini, Marguareis, and many other. You could also do some cross-country skiing, on trails that have been designed for the winter olimpic games, or finally go to the more mundane resorts of Limone Piemonte, Artesina and Prato nevoso, to enjoy skiing in relax. In summertime, you can enjoy relaxing walks in a location that will give you the feeling that everything has been designed just for you, or, if you are a skilled climber, use the apartment as a mountain hut base to climb some of the peaks around: Marguareis (PD), Rastelli (TD+), Scarason (ED). All in all, this is one of the not many mountain locations which are not so crowded (yet), and where you can relax, enjoy the panoramas, and breath some clean air
