Welcome to Casa Dante! Your home away from home located in an ancient hamlet in the hearth of Tuscany.
On oasis of peace to relax, feel at one with nature, do ecotourism.
A bright and cozy home, a few steps from the center and the ancient hermitage. The finest hospitality and care for detail delivered by an experienced traveler.
2 bedrooms – antique and modern styles –, bathroom, living room, kitchen and balconies with a view on Amiata Mountain. Plenty of parking space. Bed&Breakfast option.
The whole apartment is at guests' disposal. It is also possible to use the washing machine in the basement and the clotheslines in the courtyard on the back of the house or the lines between the bedrooms' balconies.
A WIFI modem is also available to guests; it works on the mobile network (3g). Since we are on a small village on the mountains I beg you to understand that the mobile service is poor, therefore the internet connection is slow and sometimes is interrupted. It is enough for social networks' messaging, email, and with a bit of patience, internet browsing. Sadly, music and video streaming will not work; I apologize for that in advance.
10 years ago I left my country along with my law career and I started traveling the world looking for adventures to live, cultures to discover and blend in with, things to learn and moments to share, stories to listen to... All that ultimately turned into a way to enjoy life at its fullest! I gave up thinking what I will do the rest of my life and I try instead to focus on how to best live this present moment.
In order to fund my trips I've done different things: I have crewed on sail boats (in 2010 I crossed the Atlantic Ocean), I have worked as a scuba dive instructor for a number of years, I published a book about a road trip I made with an old Vespa 125 scooter. I also worked as a photographer, translator, web designer... In the past 3 years I dedicated myself to practicing and teaching what makes me feel good more than anything: yoga and meditation.
For a long time I have traveled with a backpack, sleeping in hostels or at friends' houses. In the last few years I gradually switched to a more comfortable travel style, using more and more Booking to rest in a cozy environment.
Vivo d'Orcia is a small hamlet on Amiata Mountain, located in the middle of Orcia Valley (Val d'Orcia), awarded "UNESCO World Heritage Status".
The village has essential shops, a supermarket, a bank and a church. For more shopping options you have to head to the near city of Abbadia San Salvatore.
Walk a few steps from home to find yourselves thrown back into the Medieval atmosphere of the Hermitage, legacy of the ancient Camaldolese monastery, acquired in 1538 by the Counts Cervini family, whose descendants still dwell in the castle. The Counts are to be credited for the construction of the ancient County, the warehouses, the oil mills and the water mills, around which the thriving economy of the area revolved.
Around the house and the small village you can find chestnut, beech and fir forests, streams of crystal clear waters and natural waterfalls. Numerous guided trails lead you to discover the richness of nature of this mountain. During the mushroom season it is not uncommon to run across a delicious Porcini mushroom on your stroll.
There are multiple ecotourism options: hot springs of Bagni San Filippo and Bagno Vignoni, skiing, horse riding, fishing, biking, wine tasting.
