Casa Tincana is an old stone, semi-detached house in the vicinity of a medieval village (borgo) Tincana. Please, keep in mind that it is a very informal place. It is a private house shared with people whom we trust and whom we invite into our realm.
The house was built in a traditional rustical style with the use of local stones mainly. The interior of the house is 83 square meters which makes it possible to accommodate up to eight people in it comfortably. Casa Tincana was designed in a kind of fusion of styles, which makes it full of rich diversity. There are 3 independent bedrooms and one foldable double bed in the interconnecting room. Two bathrooms: one with a bathtub and one with a shower enable you to maintain comfort even when the house is full of guests. On each floor, there is an air conditioning system keeping the temperature inside low during summertime and creating a warm and cosy atmosphere during the cold winter days. Casa Tincana is equipped with a very efficient central heating system.
We live 1300 km from Tincana but this wonderful place is always in our hearts. Thanks to the neighbourhood of our great Italian friends, this place is always well-kept and ready for the arrival of guests.
In our garden, there is the astronomical observatory "Rantiga" involved in so called “planetary defense” projects, the main objective of which is detecting any potential threats in space, such as passing-by asteroids or space debris. Among many others in this place were discovered asteroids named: Sting, Hans Zimmer and Harari
Centuries ago, Tincana was under the rule of one of the most powerful women in the European history: Matilda of Tuscany. Matilda, also known as the Margravine of Tuscany, with her unusual aptitude for combining politics with love affairs, has played a crucial role in the political game between King Henry IV and Pope Gregory VII. Her strong character and political talents shaped the structures of a State-Church conglomerate for centuries.
Matilda possessed two castles, one of which was the Castello di Carpineti located within a few kilometres from Casa Tincana. The castle is accessible by car and it is one of the must-see points on the historical map of Tincana.
Our Vineyard:
Almost three hundred grape vines were planted just a stone’s throw away from the Casa Tincana during the spring of 2020 thereby commencing a new stage in the history of this beautiful mansion - the stage of Astronomical Vineyard Tincana. The vines are still not mature enough to provide an amount of vine sufficient to share with you, however we believe that in the near future the first bottles of delicious Lambrusco will be available for you to enjoy!
