Built at the beginning of the 19th century as a mansion to house men and horses for the connecting road (known, in the regional portion, as the "Rotabile degli Abruzzi") between Naples and Florence for the wool/silk trade. It was also used as a postal hub of the Vatican State for the sorting of mail between the Vatican itself, the Kingdom of Naples and the Grand Duchy of Tuscany. The structure was totally restored in the last couple of years and strengthened against seismic events through cement injections and internal steel cables. These works made it possible to bring to light the splendid local tuff vaults. The thickness of the walls of over 1 meter makes the construction particularly resilient to temperature variations.

Guests will be cordially welcomed by the family management of the structure itself. The owners are physically active people and can offer suggestions for the countless excursion options possible in the surrounding area on foot (hiking or trail running) or by bicycle (Road and Mountain Bike). Bikepackers and Hikers welcome! On request it is possible to organize guided one-day treks and bike rides in the Morrone, Majella and Genzana areas.

The structure is centrally located in the most beautiful and accessible area of ​​Popoli Terme in the neighborhood known as Torre dell'Aia, in the name of an ancient feudal tower built by the Cantelmo Dukes to protect the area inside the access walls of the town. The extreme proximity of the bus areas and the train station allows easy travel to access other areas of the Peligna Valley or the nearby mountain ridges.
