Genius Loci is a family created and managed Inn. Maurizio was born in Umbria and studied economics at the University of Rome. He spent his career in sustainable land development and building and was in charge of the renovation, which he proudly defines as his crowning achievement. He is the enologist/ wine-maker of our DOCG wines, oversees the property's olive trees, producing our widely-acclaimed, organic, extra-virgin olive oil. Mary was born and raised in California and graduated from UC in art history. While traveling in Italy over 40 years ago, she met and later married Maurizio and made her life in Umbria. Mary always had a clear vision for the Inn, aiming to offer a unique and amazing guest experience. She is in charge of Reservations and of lavish Gourmet Wine and Cheese Tastings. With her in-depth knowledge of the area, she also acts as "Concierge". Michael graduated from Connecticut College before completing an International Hotel Management Program and working in Hospitality around the world. He helped Dad Maurizio with the restoration and Mom Mary with the interior decorating. As your manager, he brings his experience, charisma and professionalism to Genius Loci.

Genius Loci is as much in the invisible weave of culture as it is in the physical aspects of a landscape of particular beauty.
