I love to share with guests what I have absorbed from my Italian heritage. Abruzzo is rich with tradition - its food, festivals, and customs reflect deep roots to the area. I have immersed myself in them and enjoy being with my neighbors and friends at them. I come from a professional theater background and enjoy connecting with guests as an extension of that habit of human to human contact. I am happy to guide you to places of interest and/or help you plan where to find them. I enjoy drives around our stunning countryside and can act as driver and/or navigator. 15 years with this house has given my knowlegde of where to go for cooking lessons, wine and olive oil tastings, unique shopping, and excursions in nature. With my husband, I explore opportunities to enjoy the outdoors in our glorious Grand Sasso Mountians and calming Adriatic coast. I will help you enjoy them, too, if you like! Casa da Carmine is situated in the center of a hilltop village rife with authentic daily life. We are next to the main church and easy to find. Two other ancient chapels located in the town are worth visiting. Within walking distance there is a small grocery store, bank and post office (each with a bancomat), a pharmacy, two bars/cafes, and gas station. Within a short drive you can visit Bisenti, the birthplace of Pontious Pilate, Pescara with its museums, restaurants and shops, Sulmona- the birthpalce of Ovid and home of famous confetti candies, the spooky castle of Roccascalegna, the hermitages in the Maiella mountains, the historic fort of Civitella del Tronto, and many of Abruzzo's treasures. Restaurants serving fresh, local food are also within a few minutes' drive.
