周边信息
Corfinio, the first capital of Italy.
In the first century the Italic peoples who inhabited the central-southern regions, subjected to Rome, allied themselves in the Italic League. The capital of the League was Corfinium which was renamed "ITALY" here the Italian silver coin was minted where it appeared for the first turn the word "ITALY".
The historic center stands out the medieval house and the palace in via San Martino. The bishop's palace and Palazzo Trippitelli which houses the Archaeological Museum wich include the moving and rare silver coin where the word "ITALY" appeared for the first time in history.
The Morroni remain from this ancient period, a sort of tower mausoleum located along the Tiburtina Valeria, right in front of our villa. Very close there is, the beautiful Basilica of San Pelino, one of the most important medieval monuments in Abruzzo. Characteristic of the village are the wonderful stone portals that adorn the buildings of the historic center.
Every year on August 15, the commemoration of the birth of the "Lega Italica" is celebrated. The historic market is set up in the town with ancient shops, food and wine products, handicrafts and much more.
