Villa Smeralda is a villa from the 1800's recently restored by a team of architects. The apartment can be rented as a one or two bedroom accomodation. The apartment has original alfrescos on the ceiling, parquet tile throughout and a fantastic view of our olive grove and the bay of Portofino. The villa is only 10 minutes walk to the sea and to the lively town of Lavagna. You are in a perfect location to explore the Riviera, including Portofinao, Santa Margherita and the Cinque Terre. Upon check in we will collect the city tax of 8 to 15 euros, depending on the stay.

We bought this property from our friend. It was in his family since the mid 1800's. We took three years and lots of effort to restore it. It is now ecological with solar panels, collection of rain water and advanced heat pump technology. Now we live on the ground and first floor about half the year. The other half of the year we live near Palm Beach, Florida. We are both retired from the travel business. Sergio was a captain of luxury cruise ships and Laura made her career in marketing for Expedia. Now retired, we still love to travel the world. We are both dual citizens of Italy and the US. When we aren't travelling we enjoy our garden, hiking and boating/fishing.

The villa is set on 7500 square meter olive grove and has a view of the mediterranean. You are within walking distance to the train station, the famous Riviera beaches as well as many great restaurants and shopping. There are so many things to do in the area...the beaches are wonderful, you can pick a new one each day... there is a ferry that takes you along the coast, Portofino is very close and Cinque Terre is easy to reach by train. Other day trips are Florence, Pisa, Lucca, Torino, Genova or the outlets of Serravalle.
