Villa Sycorax is an early example of the Porto Rafael "style" that emerged with the creation of the village around the charming piazza in the 1960s. Characterised by curved walls and arched passageways, the house looks directly onto the sea through mature pine trees and over natural vegetation such as oleanders, myrtle and wild olives. Although the house is equipped with portable fans, guests should be aware that it does NOT HAVE air conditioning units fitted either in the bedrooms or any common areas.

The local village of Porto Rafael is a 15 minute walk and centres around two pedestrian piazzas; above the village on the roadside sits a busy and famous Harry's Bar, together with a small store and a medical centre, while just a short walk down to the sea-front lies the restaurant Solaz and long-standing bar Il Gatto Volpe. About 1 km further up the coast to the north sits the small harbour and Yacht Club of Punta Sardegna where visitors can admire the many boats and enjoy a drink on the sea. From here small rubber inflatable boats (RIBs) can be rented to go to the nearby islands of the archipelago such as La Maddalena, Spargi and Budelli/Razzoli.
