This cottage "Green Gables" is located at the foot of Mt. Haneyama, one of the 100 famous mountains in Kyushu. This area is also called Bijin-Yu Besso(Meaning hot spring of beauty). The water quality of simple alkaline hot spring is a little slippery, so if you wash your hands with soap or shampoo, you will feel that the soap will never come off. But that's the secret to being beautiful on your skin. Coffee brewed with hot spring water while listening to the chirping of birds is exceptional.
We are an outdoor family who moved to Oita to raise our children in the countryside. I decided to rent out a vacation home with my family because I want everyone in Japan and overseas to know about the wonderful nature of Oita! We want our guests to feel comfortable as friends in our home. If you have any concerns, feel free to message us or call us.
Mt. Haneyama is one of the mesa (table mountain) that characterize this area, and is famous for Miyama Kirishima, which blooms in May and June. With a short drive and hike, you can see the Kuju mountain range all year round. 7-8 minutes from the cottage to Kusu town shopping street. Supermarkets, convenience stores, home centers, bento shops, launderettes, and hot springs with family baths are also available. [Access time by car] Fukuoka International Airport 85 minutes Oita Airport 65 min. Kumamoto Airport 110 min. Yufuin town 30 min. Beppu city 50 min. Hita 40 min. Chojabaru trailhead 30 min. Makinoto Pass trailhead 40 min. Kuju Forest Park Ski Resort 40 min. Kurokawa Onsen 45 min. Aso Daikanbo 60 min.(You can see one of the world’s largest calderas.) * You will need a driver's license that allows you to drive in Japan and a rental car at the airport.
