In July 2025, we reopened after five years! Guesthouse Tsumugiya is a cozy hidden retreat, lovingly renovated by the owner from a merchant’s residence built in the Taisho era. Surrounded by a spacious courtyard, quiet backstreets, and lush greenery, it’s a peaceful place where you may find yourself wanting to stay for days on end. From the guest room windows, you can see the traditional alleyways of Ise. It’s a relaxing space where people of all ages and from all over the world can feel at home. Conveniently located within walking distance of the station, supermarkets, cafés, and more.

The guesthouse is located in the Kawazaki area, along a river that was once used as a canal. Here, hidden shops renovated from traditional townhouses and storehouses mingle with the everyday lives of local residents. You’ll find a charming variety of places to explore, such as a secondhand bookstore in a century-old home, a cozy café in a traditional house, a tearoom in a kura storehouse, a long-established confectionery shop, a famous coffee roastery, and even a ceramics wholesaler’s warehouse you can wander through. This is also a neighborhood where many elderly residents live, offering a glimpse into the authentic, time-honored lifestyle of Ise. A 24-hour drugstore is just a 2-minute walk away, a local Ise supermarket is 4 minutes on foot, Ise City Station is a 7-minute walk, and Ujiyamada Station is 8 minutes away. If you are arriving at Ise City Station, please be sure to exit from the Kintetsu side at the back of the station. Street parking in the surrounding area is strictly prohibited.
