Hello, this is Kai from Minpaku Dōjō!
Drawing on my background in running a café, teaching cooking, food education, and counseling, I opened this retreat with the goal of being a “helpful host” who can support guests through both hospitality and home-style cuisine.
I was captivated by the beauty and quiet of the seaside and moved here, renovating an overgrown traditional house. I chose each tree, item, and piece of furniture carefully, keeping what could be preserved and arranging everything with my favorites. I enjoy the present “unbalanced” atmosphere, while dreaming of the harmony this place will achieve in the years to come. By the time the trees have grown into their full beauty, I hope that we ourselves will have become part of the landscape.
In this calm natural setting, I strive to offer Japanese home-style creative dishes and warm cultural hospitality. My aim is to create a space you can enjoy not only on sunny days but also in the rain. During your stay, I am happy to assist whenever needed, but I will also respect your privacy if you prefer a more independent experience.
Property information
Hello♪
My name is Akemi Kai, the owner of Minpaku Dojo.
Thank you very much for choosing our accommodation among so many wonderful options!
Our guesthouse is surrounded by nature — a peaceful forest where graceful black kites live behind us, and a breathtaking ocean view spreads before you. The sun sets right in front of the house, with Mount Amakusa Fuji standing beautifully in the center. There is almost no traffic, only the sounds of waves and birds in the morning, and soothing crickets at night. The scenery is never the same twice, bringing deep relaxation to both body and mind.
I combined my experience in cooking classes, counselling, and café management to create a unique, heartwarming stay.
Dinner includes freshly smoked bacon and rice balls cooked in a kamado stove — simply delicious!
In summer, enjoy a BBQ with select ingredients; in winter, sukiyaki or hot-pot dishes.
Guests are welcome to bring their own drinks or alcohol.
Breakfast features Hiyajiru (cold soup from Miyazaki) or ochazuke for a light start, changing to Satsuma-jiru and grilled rice balls in colder seasons.
Later, enjoy freshly baked bread and creamy potage — or try a bread-making experience!
All food, fruit, and drinks in the refrigerator are free to enjoy, and the kitchen is fully equipped for self-cooking.
Seasonings are provided, and meals can be prepared upon request, especially on rainy days.
Fishing guests can request lunch boxes, use the fish-prep area, and cook or store their catch. You can go straight to the bath after returning from the sea.
Our host-in-residence style offers Japanese hospitality in nature — like staying with a helpful friend. Of course, privacy is always respected.
Laundry service, car washing, and airport transfers (within one hour) are free of charge.
We hope your stay brings peace, comfort, and joy♪
Maximum capacity: 5 guests (children negotiable).
