I am a mother raising my two cute children in the mountainous countryside of Minamiuonuma City, Niigata Prefecture in Japan. My town during winter is a very snowy area where we enjoy snowboarding and skiing and in the summertime when the mountains become lush and green we enjoy hiking and playing in the river.

There are several restaurants within walking distance from Ishimaru House such as the famous barbecue restaurant Yakiniku Ishidora which is right next door to the house and is a favourite with locals and guests staying in the Ishiuchi area (reservation is recommended). For a true local Japanese experience there is a small Japanese traditional style Izakaya bar called Okachan, Kiyoi specialises in sushi however they also offer Izakaya menu (Japanese style of tapas which is enjoyed with drinks). A retro cafe is located a 3 minute walk from Ishimaru House open for lunch (also offering Bento Boxes) and coffee it also has a kids play room.
