Both accommodations on the property were renovated In February of 2020.
The Kura (two bedroom) is a unique place to stay. It was once used as a storehouse. With thick earthen-walls they were considered to be fire proof, thus being the best way to store your valuables or in some cases, food. It has been renovated in such a way that you can still feel it's history, but without sacrificing luxury.
The Cabin (one bedroom with bunkbeds) is part of a 200 year old property, and was originally built to be a meeting space for the family (and in more recent years, a karaoke area!). The karaoke is gone, but what remains is a newly renovated space purpose built for a small group who want to enjoy being together on their trip.
Togari Onsen is situated across the valley from the more well known Nozawa Onsen. Just like Nozawa (and nearby Madarao), we get the same snow storms which give the area such wonderful snow! Unlike Nozawa and Madarao, Togari Onsen is a lot less well known , and so there are typically a lot less people on the slopes. Very rarely is the a queue for a lift, which means more time enjoying the snow for you!
There are several restaurants, shops and bars in town as well as two natural hot springs (one of which is a few minutes walk from the property!).
Togari is more of a traditional Japanese village, and not a full blown resort, so there isn't so much nightlife. If you want a bit of a night out we recommend visiting Nozawa Onsen. This will require a car, and of course, a designated driver (Japan has zero tolerance laws for driving and drinking alcohol, and it is strictly enforced!).
