Nestled in the peaceful mountains of Niiyama in the Ina Valley,
Furusato Taikenkan is a whole-house accommodation lovingly preserved and used by the local community for many years.
Inside, you will find traditional tatami rooms and an irori hearth,
quietly carrying the atmosphere of old-fashioned Japanese life.
Some parts of the building show signs of aging,
but these small marks are the traces of time and the memories of the people who lived with this place.
We continue to care for it, keeping its warmth alive.
Surrounded by rich nature, insects are common depending on the season.
There is no air-conditioning,
but cool mountain breezes keep the house comfortable in summer—
a reminder of life lived close to nature.
Each season offers its own charm:
wild mountain vegetables in spring,
green shade in summer,
harvest colors in autumn,
and deep quiet in winter.
You can enjoy cooking with local ingredients,
traditional craft experiences,
and peaceful stargazing at night.
There are no luxury facilities here.
Instead, you will find the simple comfort
of a home where people and nature have lived side by side for generations.
Take a step away from everyday life,
and enjoy the nostalgic peace of Furusato Taikenkan.
We moved here from the city to live closer to nature. Now, we grow our own rice and vegetables, and welcome guests to share the peace and warmth of life by the hearth.
Just a 15-minute drive from the inn, you’ll find Sakura no Yu hot spring, Takato Castle Ruins Park — famous for cherry blossoms — and several shops and convenience stores.
We understand that our mountain setting may not be for everyone, but it’s hard not to feel discouraged when the quiet we treasure is viewed negatively.
