Monika (Dutch) & Banana (Swahili) started in 2000 with Banana House, after travelling intensely, world-wide, we decided to create our own home where we can welcome guests from the world.
Banana House is centrally located in the peaceful heart of Shela village, just 100 meters from the picturesque waterfront, where traditional dhows are built and repaired. Immerse yourself in the authentic atmosphere of Lamu, explore historical sites, vibrant local markets, artisan workshops, and enjoy delightful dining experiences in nearby restaurants.
