DBA: Kep Garden Cafe and Guesthouse, also known as CASA KEP, we enclosed in a private gated mini developing permaculture farm, tucked away in the foothills of Kep national park and just a 3-minute walk from Kep beach. Note, we are not a typical guesthouse. We are a self-catering homestay. We are adult only and LGBTQ friendly. Unfortunately, we don't allow children as we have an industrial outdoor kitchen, the pool is not gated, and there are domestic and wild animals roaming the grounds, thus this is not a safe space for young children and I don't want to see any little ones get hurt. Families with teens will be considered - send me a message. Each self-catering unit has its own unique design and is equipped with everything you may need to call it a temporary home away from home. From eco-friendly linen, fluffy pillows, hotel quaility mattresses, towels, toiletries, soaps, local coffee and seasonal local fruit (often from our own garden), fresh baked goodies, equipped kitchens (kitchenettes) in all units, my aim is to make you feel like you live here as part of the Casa Kep family. NOTE: We DO NOT provide daily housekeeping - the rooms are cleaned and linen changed once a week - unless requested due to a ridiculous amount of sand from the beach or dirt from the garden piling up. One, it is not sustainable to do it more than this as even the eco-soaps/cleaning agents still impact our fragile water system. Two, I want you to relax and not worry about me wandering through your space or moving your items (it's a privacy policy). If you notice the extra environmental charge - this is to off set your carbon footprint when using air conditioning, the gas stoves, the fridges, and part of it helps cover the extra cost for all the eco-products used on site. The remaining funds from this go to planting more green things in the garden, such as trees, plants, flowers, bananas. The more green the less carbon.
I am a semi-retired sustainability university lecturer that was living and teaching in Phnom Penh for over a decade and just wanted a quieter life, so I moved to Kep. Now I spend my time tending my painting, building things, fixing things, and maintaining this beautiful property. NOTE: I live onsite along with a lot of critters, including a young very friendly dog, 4-5 cats, a rooster (named Cooper), and a family of free range chickens. There are also frogs, lizards, geckos, and sometimes spiders, snakes and monkeys (not mine - they come and go as they please). I take sustainability very seriously and incorporate sustainable practices into everything I do, including how I maintain the property and care for my critters. So if you are looking for a souless generic hotel, with bleached sheets and towels changed daily, and a manacured garden similar to Versailles, this place is not for you. However, if you are looking for natural entertainment, a somewhat quiet place to breathe and reconnect with nature, yourself, your partner, your friends and don't mind chickens walking around, then Casa Kep is perfect for you. We are also pet friendly, feel free to bring your own furry loved one to join in the fun. My goal is to help you feel at home even if it is just for a moment within your travels.
There is so much to do in Kep! It's not just about the crab market...The white sand beach is just a 3 minute walk, the National park is just a 5 minute walk, the crab market is just a 10 minute walk and there are caves, 'secret' beaches, architectural ruins, street art, countryside tours, mangroves, a butterfly garden and Rabbit Island within a 30 minute radius around Casa Kep.
