Diyawara Home Stay is located in Anuradhapura which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and also one of the island's thriving ancient capitals. The city of Anuradhapura is located in the North Central Province of Sri Lanka while the distance from Colombo is about 206km. The city can be reached via the Colombo-Anuradhapura railway line and the Colombo-Kurunegala-Anuradhapura main motor road. Vehicles and taxis are available for hire from the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the city of Anuradhapura is home to a large number of ancient monuments of religious importance. The famous Atamasthana (the 8 places of worship) and the massive irrigation reservoirs are always a breathtaking experience. Places of worship include the 'Sri Maha Bodiya', 'the Brazen Palace', 'the Thuparama Dagoba', 'the Ruwanwali Maha Stupa', 'the Isurumuni Viharaya' as well as the Archaeological museum. If you are in for a safari adventure, then you can head towards the wilpattu, Minneriya or Kaudulla National Parks where you can witness many elephants in their natural habitat.
