Ethnographic holiday lodge Gungas is a unique collection of authentic traditional Latvian wooden houses. They were originally constructed in the 19th century and collected from various parts of the country. Rescued and carefully moved to their new location, they now stand encircled by a pine forest at the shore of Lake Dūņezers, where they have been lovingly reassembled. In Gungas the historical Latvian country spirit still connects with nature’s powerful energy but with up to date comforts. Being only 25 km from Riga, all the joys of that beautiful city with its Art Nouveau and Hanse architecture, museums, theatres, cinemas, shops and restaurants are all on the door step. Also Gauja National Park can be reached in a short time, offering numerous hiking trails and sights as castles and palaces. The uncrowded and unspoilt white sandy beaches of the gulf of Riga are only a 15-minutes drive away. Truly a beautiful way to spend some of those long warm Latvian summer days.
