The house was bought by the family in 1979 and we renovated the place: floors, walls, ceilings and the roof were renewed. Trees were planted, some of them were cut in the mean time. Ever since the house has felt like home, the stove burns, the landscape is beautiful as ever and the storks around the house make us feel welcome .
My parents bought this house in 1979 as we already owned the house annex. Ever since I have worked my butts off to make it into a little paradise, and I must say, the efforts were worth while. When my parents died I inherited the place and bought the orchard opposite of the house and use that land for my 4 cows, the most cute red devils I ever met.
I have a busy live but try to be there whenever I can. When I can not, I enjoy the idea of others using it!
Sint Anna is one of the old harbor towns in Zeeland, but when the waterways became too shallow it lost its value and became a village with farmhouses. The little square in Sint Anna and the funny church tower still reveal the former ambitions of the place. The environment is beautiful with open polders surrounded by the dikes that used to keep the salt water out, Many migratory bird use the area to rest before moving on. The dune of the sea can be seen from the house.
But Belgium town like Brugge and Gent are also within reach, personally I like Gent most. For the rich and famous, there is still Knokke within a few kilometers, pretty expensive but a walk on the boulevard does not cost you anything.
On a rainy day, you can have a walk on the beach, drink hot chocolate in De Zeemeeuw (beach restaurant) stay in the house with the wood stove on.
