Property information

The fort, dating from 1811, is part of the Stelling Den Helder, a defense line built under Napoleon. The fort is now a museum, which tells the history of the period when it was a fort. There is also a North Sea aquarium in the fort. Your overnight stay will take place in a beautiful nature reserve, please enjoy it. You can also go for a walk through the Grafelijkheidsduinen, the beach or stay on your own property. With the stairs behind your house you will imagine yourself in our '' Droge gracht ''. Here you can walk undisturbed, also take a look at our Bunker route. The cottage has a television with Netflix and there is also the opportunity to cook your own meal. You can collect the key at the reception. The receptionist will give further instructions. You have free entrance to our museum and aquarium throughout your stay.

Neighbourhood information

Besides the beach, dunes and nature, Huisduinen is best known for Fort Kijkduin. Just north of Fort Kijkduin is lighthouse De Lange Jaap, which dates from 1878. It is the highest cast-iron lighthouse in Europe. Uniquely, the entire lighthouse is constructed from cast iron plates and is therefore very heavy. During a storm, the top of the tower swings out about 1 meter. The lighthouse was designed by Q. Harder, former chief structural engineer of the pilotage service. The Huisduinen church dates from the 17th century.
