Hi, my name is Huig. Huig Willemsz to be exact. I was the first resident here after the plunder of Marshal Maarten van Rossum on the 6th of March 1528. I had more than three hectares of land, from the church to the canal. It was a hard time to live in. In 1568 the Eighty Year War broke out, which culminated in the siege of Leiden in October 1573. The Spaniards turned my estate into a war zone and burned many of my belongings. The tax inspector valued my property and house at only 3 guilders and 73 pennies. Fortunately, I survived and safed the estate. How could I have imagined that this house would still exist today? And that so many people, like you, would enjoy this. Genesis has until now had 46 owners in approximately 468 years, and a multitude of visitors. Like yourselve, I've seen them come and go. Just imagine how proud I am, to see you are enjoying my home. Since the 15th of June 2012, Lonneke and Marc Hoogvliet have maintained the heritage. They have given my house the name Genesis. Out of respect, and with my approval.
Genesis is the story of all stories. We very much enjoy that you will experience one while staying at Genesis. You will sense that every item at Genesis has a story to tell. Everything is selected on this promise.
Genesis Voorschoten is situated in the old centre of a quiet typical Dutch town, opposite to the village church. In walking distance of the terraces, shops and lake. Within a 30-minute drive of the beaches, Amsterdam, Leiden, Delft, The Hague and Rotterdam.
