Kia Ora – Welcome to Kawatea
We are Claudia and Antoine – passionate travellers with a heart for hospitality. Inspired by our roots in New Zealand and our many journeys around the world, we understand how valuable it is to find a place that truly feels like home while away.
Our bungalows are named Kawatea, which in Māori means “The place I call home”. That’s exactly what we aim to offer: a warm, well-kept retreat where you feel welcome and at ease.
At Kawatea, it’s all about peace, nature, water and freedom. But also about the little things: a spotless space, a cosy atmosphere, and the feeling of being genuinely cared for. Whether you’re seeking relaxation or adventure – we’ll make sure you feel at home, far from home.
Kia Ora, welcome to Kawatea. Enjoy your stay!

周边信息
You are right in the heart of the diverse Land of Maas and Waal. This region, nestled between rivers and close to Nijmegen, is a paradise for walkers, cyclists and lovers of the good life.
Cycling and hiking here are pure joy. From the park, you can ride straight onto the dikes, passing orchards, windmills and riverbanks. The surroundings of Wijchen and Beuningen offer countless routes – from relaxed rides to sporty challenges. Walk through the forests of Hernen and Leur, along the Maas near Balgoij, or discover the serene beauty of the Hatertse and Overasseltse Vennen. The Berendonck recreational area is also a great spot for a refreshing swim or a picnic by the water.
The villages themselves are full of charm. Wijchen enchants with its historic centre, cosy terraces and the impressive Wijchen Castle, which also houses the Museum Kasteel Wijchen. Beuningen offers a friendly atmosphere with local shops and markets. Both villages are rich in culture, hospitality and that typical Dutch sense of gezelligheid.
For culture lovers and families, there are surprising outings nearby, such as the interactive muZIEum in Nijmegen or the nature-focused Museum De Bastei along the Waal river. Children can enjoy themselves at Monkey Town Wijchen or the outdoor playground of Het Hof van Kaatje.
In July, the region becomes the stage for the world-famous Nijmegen Four Days Marches. The atmosphere is festive, the routes are breathtaking, and the passages through villages like Wijchen are unforgettable. And right next to the park is the location of Down The Rabbit Hole, the creative music festival in Beuningen known for its magical vibe, art installations and surprising line-up.
In short: whether you're looking for peace, nature, culture or festivals – the surroundings of our holiday park offer it all. And with a stay in one of the Kawatea-Cottages, you’ll enjoy a comfortable, stylish base that instantly feels like home.
