There is a gorgeous beach just 3 kms from the house. Sortland center is 20 kms away. In around the center you will find museums, art galleries, restaurants, grocery stores, shopping malls, a golf course, ski slope, horseback riding, numerous hiking trails, Pust Sauna and a Sámi adventure company. Within 1-2 hours of driving you will reach each of the municipalities in Vesterålen, as well as Svolvær and Henningsvær in Lofoten. Our favorite destination is Nyksund -- an old abandoned fishing village which recently has been brought back to life. And while you are there you can explore the Queen’s Route, a marked hiking trail connecting the historic villages of Nyksund and Stø in Vesterålen. This circular trail meanders along the coastline, through the beautiful Skipssanden white sandy beach, and over mountain peaks with breathtaking 400-meter-high views of the Atlantic Ocean.
