We are a family of four who relocated from Los Angeles to Tromsø a few years ago. I’m Norwegian—an actress and producer—and my husband is American and a musician. Our two bilingual, binational daughters are both in elementary school. Not long after moving, we settled into our “dream home,” lovingly called The Arctic Villa. After experiencing our first winters here and completing some remodeling, we began welcoming guests from around the world in October of that same year. Until now, we have hosted exclusively through Airbnb, and we’re excited to be available here as well. The Arctic Villa is perched on a sunny hillside in Tromsdalen—bathed in light during the summer months and perfectly positioned for northern lights viewing in winter. Overlooking the fjord and the surrounding mountains, the villa sits directly opposite Tromsø’s city center. We are located right beside the iconic Ice Cathedral and just beneath Fjellheisen, the cable car, and the summit of Fløya. Popular hikes such as the Sherpatrappa trail up to Fjellheisen and the walk to the Lavo in Tromsdalen start just minutes from the house. A shopping mall, grocery stores, and inviting cafés are all within easy walking distance. The city center is a short 15-minute stroll across the bridge—an attraction in its own right. We live in a peaceful neighborhood and have small children. This is not a party house. Please enjoy your stay, but avoid loud music or noise, especially between 10:00 PM and 7:30 AM. GETTING AROUND While having a car can be convenient, it’s not necessary in Tromsø. The city is compact, walkable, and well-connected by public transport. Parking downtown is costly, making walking an excellent option. We’re just 15 minutes (around 1 km) from the city center, and all major attractions in Tromsdalen are only moments away. Bus routes 26 and 28 run between Tromsdalen and the city, and bus number 24 takes you directly from the airport to our villa.
