We opened The Great Ponsonby Arthotel in December of 1994 and really enjoy hosting guests from both New Zealand and all around the world. We ourselves are great travellers and try to visit a new country every year. We love the Pacific and know our own country like the backs of our hands. We are lucky to have many small beaches within walking distance so in summer we spend warm evenings swimming with our dog.

The Great Ponsonby Arthotel, established over 20 years ago, is set in a renovated villa located in a heritage neighbourhood. Beautifully decorated with original New Zealand and Pacific Island artworks, filled with books, magazines, music and persian rugs, you will feel at home and relaxed in our welcoming environment. Set within a lovely garden alongside a park there are 11 rooms to choose from (either villa rooms, courtyard studios or spacious suites).

We love living in Ponsonby - on our doorstep we can find world class food & wine, live music venues, art galleries, theatre and concerts. We really enjoy festivals; The Readers & Writers, Auckland Arts Festival and Documentary & International Film. If time permits Gerry likes to walk to Eden Park for a rugby or cricket game. We are avid art fiends.
