Our piece of paradise is situated on the edge of the water in the Athenree Village at the north end of the Tauranga harbour. Our newly renovated, three bedroomed modern upstairs apartment enjoys all-day sun and uninterrupted views of the estuary. The owners live downstairs in their separate apartment. They are available to assist you as needed. Access to the apartment is through the main entrance to the building and up one flight of stairs to your level. The stairs are secure with an easy rise. The apartment is lockable. From here you can: relax in the spacious living area; watch the sun (and moon) rise over the water; enjoy the ever-changing view of the tide; observe the varied and rich bird life; or relax while reading or playing games from our library. Feel more energetic? Walk to the surf beach; visit the hot pools or take a walk on the water edge. The Athenree common green area is between our house and the sea. The huge pohutukawa trees provide a lovely shady place to relax. Watching children fishing off the jetty is fun

We have recently returned to New Zealand after eight years abroad in South Korea and China. Athenree Beach House has hosted many guests over the years, bringing great joy to children and adults alike. We are now retired but still vey active. Wherever possible we are happy to advise guests regarding travel in New Zealand. We are here to support our guests to have a memorable stay and the Athenree Beach House.

Athenree is a quiet, charming coastal village. A feature is the common green area between houses and the estuary. You are free to walk this zone at any time. When the tide is low, you will enjoy bountiful and varied birdlife. The hot pool at the camping ground, just 300 meters from us, is a delight. You can easily walk to the ocean beach (ten minutes). Waihi Beach Village has a fine collection of stores and cafes just a pleasant 10-minute drive from us. Athenree is conveniently positioned at the lower end of the Coromandel peninsular. We are two hours south of the Auckland International Airport and 45 minutes north of Tauranga. Full instructions will be sent to all guests. The area is endowed with beautiful beaches, bush walks and cycle tracks. Waihi (17 km) is an operating gold mining town. Easy day trips from here include; Hobbiton (100km); The thermal city of Rotorua (100km); Cathedral Cove (100km); Hot Water Beach (100km); Whangamata (45km) and Tauranga/Mount Maunganui (50km).
