It’s a fantastic place for a family holiday and a real seaside Bach experience. Riverton’s surrounding beaches and estuary are natural. Taramea Bay is particularly popular as it provides safe easy swimming only a few minutes walk from our beach cottage. Mitchell’s Bay is great for swimming, and surfing. Dolphins regularly swim into the bays and Riverton’s Aparima River, which is a great fishing spot as well. The excellent Te Hikoi Southern Jouney Heritage Museum provides unique and dramatic history of Māori and European settlement in the area. As well as the museum, the Main Street I’d dotted with local artists studios, cafes and supermarket. Several walking tracks, golf course and public swimming pool.
