Company information

After working as a Registered Nurse and raising two adult daughters I have chosen a beautiful region to live to follow my passion of hiking and skiing. I have the additional interest of cooking, and I enjoy meeting people. I am following the example from when I lived in the UK and I enjoyed staying in B&B's and meeting locals and enjoyed the relaxed lodge like environment B&B's could offer. I make great scones and I've been told my food tastes fabulous. I have created the retreat I always looked for after a day's adventure. I have my own vegetable garden and eggs are obtained locally. I use what is fresh and viable to provide hearty meals if required for you at the end of the day.

Property information

Gem bed and breakfast is a stones through from central Christchurch set on the peaceful rural setting of 5 Ha with views of the southern alps. It is privately secluded by shelter belts on three boundaries. The property only accepts a maximum of 3 room occupancy. Two rooms have fully private use bathrooms, the other room is only booked if a group wishes to book two rooms and are happy to share a bathroom. Continental breakfast is free when booking. I can prepare you dinner also, 2 or 3 courses with 24 hours notice at additional cost and wine and beer is available to purchase. It is the perfect location to relax after a day exploring or hiking the beautiful region.

Neighbourhood information

West Melton is a quiet secluded area, close enough to a city but also really close to ski fields, hiking, mountain biking and beautiful scenery. There is a village handy with a pub, takeaway bar and cafe. The location is also close enough to Christchurch or North Canterbury for the vineyards. I perfect place to stay while you explore the wonderful region
