Harakeke was built with the vision to provide luxury private self contained accommodation to guests like we have experienced over our years of travel where it’s the little details that make it the place you want to come back to. The bedroom and bathroom are spacious and stylish with heated tiles in the bathroom and plush wool carpet in the bedroom, the living room has a gas fire with an inbuilt sound system and smart TV with polished concrete with under floor heating. In the kitchen dining area we put a bar fridge which we will stock with drinks on your arrival. We will also leave a welcome platter to enjoy with those drinks. We put a large deck on with your own private spa, outdoor fireplace and a Weber BBQ and dining area to enjoy the amazing mountain views.
On those long summer days you are welcome to use the swimming pool on the property or maybe use the court for a game of pétanque.
We love living in Tasman after relocating from Auckland and the hustle and bustle of corporate life has been swapped for a dash of corporate work with a heap of rewarding development and maintenance of our property. Flynn & Ollie our Labradoodles are part of our family, they love living on our lifestyle property too although their contribution to the workload is questionable 😀However they do add little to the housework as they are non shedding and hyper allergic so great for people allergic to dogs like myself!
We have done a lot of travel of the years staying in many lovely places and always had the plan to host our own travellers one day.
Hence when we built our house we included a self contained wing with that vision given to the architect to design that space for guests to enjoy.
Harakeke is in a rural neighbourhood of Mahana close to gravity winery and 5 mins drive to the quaint village of Upper Moutere where the oldest pub in New Zealand is along with some fabulous wineries and cafes. One of our favourites is Moutere Hills restaurant and cellar door. Mapua village is only a 10 minute drive away where you will find some great restaurants including the Apple shed our go to restaurant at Mapua. There is also some fantastic shops in the Mapua wharf village. Beaches including the famous Kaiteriteri with its lovely golden sand are all within an easy drive as is the Able Tasman great walk.
