Bring everyone together at the end of the day in the spacious open-plan living and dining space, watching TV in a dedicated separate lounge, cosied up by the fireplace or enjoy a nice hot Spa, posting the snaps from the day using the complimentary Wi-Fi. Accommodating up to 10 guests across 5 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, the Ohakune Barracks is perfectly set up as a retreat for families for a year-round holiday escape to the central North Island. Step outside of the Ohakune Barracks to take in the striking views of the alpine peaks of Mt Ruapehu as you make a plan for the day. Will you take the three-minute drive (or 1.7km flat walk) into town and get a bite to eat at one of the great cafes or restaurants, or will you head out on an adrenaline-filled adventure. Spend the day shredding the slopes at Turoa or Whakapapa, just 22 minutes' or 47 minutes drive away respectively. In summer there are some great hiking and mountain biking trails in the Tongariro National Park. When you get home, make use of the drying racks to keep your gear warm and dry for the next day.
