Silverstream is one of the largest alpaca farms in New Zealand and is one of the few properties that offers farmstay accommodation and farm tours. We are also the closest farm to Christchurch International Airport and close to State Highway One near Kaiapoi. For visitors heading to Hanmer, the wineries, Kaikoura or the Marlborough Sounds we are just a five minute detour on the north side of the city.
Our nearest town is Kaiapoi, just five kilometres away. There are many restaurants and takeaways in the town including: European, Chinese, Indian, Moroccan, Vietnamese, Japanese (Teppanyaki), Thai and McDonalds. There is a fantastic licensed cafe called "Paris for the Weekend" that offers breakfasts, high teas and lunches.
About 30 minutes north of Kaiapoi there are many wineries that offer lunches and wine tasting.
Heading back toward the airport and about 8 kms away is Willowbank Wildlife Park featuring the native Kiwi bird. Closer to the airport again is the International Antarctic Centre.
