Set in relaxing rural surroundings, only a 5-minute drive away from the Ohakune Mountain Road, you'll be at the ski field car park in just 25 minutes. When you're not up the mountain enjoying the snow, try your hand at a horse trek with Ruapehu Homestead Horse Treks located just around the corner. Situated at the south end of Tangatau State Forest and Tongariro National park, this town sits next to the south-western side of Mt Ruapehu. Only a short 5 minutes drive to Ohakune, this is a perfect spot to base yourself for some winter skiing or snowboarding. Also open in summer it's a great base to check out the many mountain bike trails
