Welcome to Tarras Serenity Haven — your peaceful escape in the heart of Central Otago. Wake to golden sunrises over the Pisa Range, fall asleep under some of the clearest stars in New Zealand, and enjoy the calm that only four acres of countryside can offer. Your private guest room is luxurious yet cosy, featuring a Super King-size bed with premium linen and soft lighting for true relaxation. Just a few steps away is a beautifully designed shared bathroom with a rain shower and a deep bath overlooking the hills — perfect after a day of exploring. There are only two guest rooms in total. The bathroom and shared living areas are shared only when both rooms are booked; otherwise, you’ll have them entirely to yourself. We never use these guest facilities. In the shared lounge, you’ll find a Nespresso machine, a selection of teas, filtered water, a fridge, toaster, and microwave for simple meals. There is no full kitchen, so we recommend planning ahead or trying our favourite nearby spots: Tarras Country Café, Māori Point Vineyard, and the Cloudy Bay cellar door — all within five minutes’ drive. Step outside and enjoy the peaceful garden, native birdlife, and the charm of our friendly animals — Wai and Maggie (our gentle dogs), Lucy the house cow, and a few roaming chooks. If you prefer not to interact with them, just let us know. Tarras Serenity Haven is ideal for solo travellers or couples seeking a quiet, comfortable base close to Wānaka, Queenstown, and Cromwell. Whether you’re visiting wineries, skiing in winter, exploring lakes, or simply unwinding, this is a place to relax and reconnect with nature. We live nearby and are happy to help with recommendations while fully respecting your privacy. Guests also receive a discount on our guided fishing trips through Catch a Fish — a peaceful way to experience the region’s lakes. Please note: this is a private room in our shared home. Quiet hours from 10 p.m. ensure a restful stay.

Our place in Tarras is right in the heart of farm country, surrounded by wide-open spaces and breathtaking 360-degree mountain views. It’s incredibly peaceful here—just you, the fresh country air, and the occasional farm animals for company. The mountains provide a stunning backdrop, changing colors with the sunrise and sunset, making it the perfect spot to kick back with a cup of coffee and soak in the serenity. For a delicious breakfast or lunch, the Tarras Country Café is just a short drive away, offering great coffee, homemade treats, and hearty meals in a charming rural setting. If you’re in the mood to explore the local wine scene, Māori Point Winery is a must-visit, known for its boutique wines and stunning riverside setting. Cloudy Bay’s Central Otago cellar door is also nearby, where you can enjoy world-class Pinot Noir and other exceptional wines while taking in the vineyard views.
