Just one hour from New Plymouth and 5 mins from Hawera, Mountain Road Estate is a 3-acre farmlet offering boutique lavender, hazelnuts, white sage, and truffles (the delicious fungus that fruits in the winter). We have repurposed a studio that was previously used for distilling lavender and now offer it as accommodation for those looking to stay somewhere peaceful and different. Our studio room offers plenty of space. The west side of the studio has a kitchenette where you can cook and hang out at our table while enjoying the view of our productive orchard and cottage gardens. The east side of the studio is where you can find more privacy, with a mini lounge featuring a pull-out bed and a queen bed looking out into our established native tree windbreak. You have full access to the grounds, where you can wander around and marvel at Mount Taranaki. We are happy to give you a tour of our place and explain all the cycles and processes that got us to where we are. If the weather suits, you are welcome to use the pizza oven and/or fire pit to enjoy the setting of young trees amongst lavender rows and the mighty Taranaki Mountain looming over it all. Access to the distillery is simple; you can park right in front of it.
