The Old Post Office Lodge is a century-old iconic building, with a location best described as being "basecamp for the Ruapehu District" including the stunning Tongariro National Park, with UNTOLD outdoor activities in every direction! From multiple famous hiking treks, to multiple infamous mountain biking trails, plus incredible kayaking journeys along the phenomenal Whanganui River, to many popular deer & pig hunting spots, and of course NZ's largest ski-field Whakapapa less than half an hour away on Mt Ruapehu. In fact, there is so much we have created a What To Do guide we can send you in advance of your stay ... whether you want High Tea at the auspicious Chateau Tongariro Hotel, or snowboarding NZ's largest ski-field, or experiencing world-class Trout Fishing, or hard-coring it on the "42 Traverse" multi-track that ends practically at our doorstep of 42 Owhango Rd. Then afterwards chillaxing in our traditional Finnish-style Sauna cabin and gorgeous Hot-Tub style spa-pool. The Old Post Office Lodge is also a superb location to have your own Great Gatsby themed night with friends ... and its a brilliant location for an Agatha Christie style Murder Mystery evening!!
