The Sauna Chalet is your perfect private getaway close to the city. We are located about 20 minutes off the southern motorway in Glenbrook, 10 minutes from Waiuku and 20 minutes from Pukekohe. An ideal location for those coming to the area for an event or to discover the Awhitu Peninsula. We encourage longer stays to make the most of our location on the boundary of Auckland and the Waikato, ideal to explore in all directions. The Chalet is of a generous size making it a comfortable holiday base.

We are a family of 3: Nicki, Felix and Slinky our friendly tabby cat. Nicki is from Auckland and Felix from Germany originally. We have lived and traveled in various parts of New Zealand and are happy to share our experience should you have any questions about your journey ahead. We highly recommend a drive for a walk to Awhitu Regional Park, the Manukau Heads Lighthouse and Karioitahi Beach. Both Waitangi Falls and Glenbrook Beach are picturesque picnic spots and only 10 minutes drive away. The Glenbrook Vintage Railway is a classic steamtrain experience operating on select dates from spring to autumn, it is best to check their website for availability. The town of Waiuku has supermarkets, a market day on Sundays from 9am to 2pm and plenty of good eateries for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A little further (20 min) but with more amenities is Pukekohe from where you can also catch a train into downtown Auckland, 45 minutes to Britomart Station, a good option to avoid traffic and parking woes. A little known gem and much closer than the worldfamous Waitomo Caves are the Nikau Caves, available are private cave tours and a cafe run by the farm owners, we recommend you enquire ahead. Make it a scenic road trip via the historic places of Port Waikato and Tuakau. As former tour guides we are happy to jump back into that role if our guests wish to have a day off from driving themselves and could offer you a customised fully guided itinerary to the places mentioned above and even further afield like the Waitomo Caves, Hobbiton, Rotorua or the Coromandel Peninsula.
