Kia ora and welcome. I’m Cindy, your host here at Whispering Pines. Our place is a small family lifestyle farm where we live with our pets, a handful of chickens, and a mix of cows and sheep that keep the paddocks lively. Life here is simple, peaceful, and very much connected to the land, and we love being able to share that with guests. We’ve created Whispering Pines Studio as a cozy, private space for travelers who want to slow down, breathe, and enjoy a taste of country living while still being close to Hokitika. You’ll often find us working in the gardens, tending to the animals, or enjoying the quiet that comes with living just a little out of town.

Our neighbourhood feels like you’re close enough to Hokitika to enjoy great food, walks, and attractions, yet far enough into the countryside to truly switch off. The area has that perfect “West Coast balance” of rural charm and convenience.. Only a few minutes’ drive away, you’ll find Hokitika’s vibrant town centre, home to local galleries, pounamu (greenstone) carvers, boutique shops, and cosy cafés. Many visitors also enjoy taking an evening stroll to watch the sunset at Hokitika Beach, famous for its driftwood sculptures and rugged coastline. Nature lovers appreciate being close to some of the Coast’s best outdoor experiences including the Hokitika Gorge, the West Coast Wilderness Trail, Lake Kaniere, and scenic rivers and forest walks. Uppaheights Café located at the treetop walk is a must do!
