Santa Comba Dao is a quiet and small town central Portugal...very safe...far but near everything at the same time...you have a cycling path of more then 50 Kms near the river Dao...water activities at Senhora da Ribeira river beach...beautiful ( and cold !!) and private waterfalls in Serra do Acor and Serra da Estrela...and other small river beaches all around that are very safe for families with small children. Between 2 major Cities Viseu and Coimbra ( one of the most ancient universities in the world) with all the activities like night life and big theaters. 1.20h driving from Porto, our north capital famous for the Oporto wine and their cellars where you can taste it... 1.30h driving from the Spanish border if you feel like saying hello to our European neighbors...if you feel like visiting a fairy tail palace, Palacio do Bussaco it's just 15 Kms away...and it's one of the most beautiful palaces of the world surrounded by a immense garden and woods with fountains and paths... We have activities during all year : ski at Serra da Estrela in the winter, Golf all year , river beach in the spring/summer...
